Feline hepatic lipidosis, commonly known as fatty liver disease, is a serious, life-threatening metabolic condition where fat builds up rapidly in a cat's liver cells. Often triggered by a period of decreased appetite, this condition requires prompt veterinary intervention. Fortunately, with early diagnosis and aggressive, long-term nutritional support, the disease is highly reversible, and most cats can make a full recovery.

Vad är det?
Massiv fettansamling i kattens lever efter dagar utan mat.
Orsaker och riskfaktorer
Anorexi (sjukdom, stress), tidigare fetma, diabetes, pankreatit. Hög risk hos överviktiga katter som slutar äta.
Tecken
- Kardinala: anorexi, ikterus, letargi
- Vanliga: kräkningar, viktnedgång, dehydrering
- Ibland: neurologiska tecken, muskelsvaghet
Gul färg på öron och slemhinnor är kardinal.
Diagnostik
Anamnes, blodprover, ultraljud, ofta levercytologi.
Ultraljud: ljus lever av fett.
Behandling
- Tidig assisterad nutrition (sond)
- Vätska och elektrolyter
- Antiemetika och stöd; behandla orsaken till anorexi
Prognos
Bättre vid tidig nutrition; utan stöd dålig.
Prevention
Undvik fasta hos överviktiga katter; behandla anorexi tidigt.
När kontakta veterinär
Akut: katt äter inte 24-48 h, ikterus, kräkningar, kraftig svaghet.
