Feline hepatic lipidosis, commonly known as fatty liver disease, is a serious, life-threatening metabolic condition where fat builds up rapidly in a cat's liver cells. Often triggered by a period of decreased appetite, this condition requires prompt veterinary intervention. Fortunately, with early diagnosis and aggressive, long-term nutritional support, the disease is highly reversible, and most cats can make a full recovery.

Årsager og risikofaktorer

Tegn
- Kardinale: anoreksi, ikterus, letargi
- Almindelige: opkast, vægttab, dehydrering
- Lejlighedsvise: neurologiske tegn, muskelsvaghed
Gul farve på ører og slimhinder er kardinal.
Diagnostik
Anamnese, blodprøver, ultralyd, ofte levercytologi.
Ultralyd: lys lever af fedt.
Behandling
- Tidlig assisteret ernæring (sonde)
- Væske og elektrolytter
- Antiemetika og støtte; behandle årsagen til anoreksi
Prognose
Bedre ved tidlig ernæring; uden støtte dårlig.
Forebyggelse
Undgå faste hos overvægtige katte; behandl anoreksi tidligt.

Akut: kat spiser ikke 24-48 t, ikterus, opkast, stærk svaghed.
