Vad är det?
Patella glider i femurs trochlea. Luxation medialt (vanligt) eller lateralt. Grad I–IV. Mekanisk hälta och broskskada.
Orsaker och riskfaktorer
Oftast kongenital (grund fåra, felställning); sällan traumatisk. Medial: små/toy; lateral: stora raser, ofta med höftledsdysplasi. Katt mer sällan, mest medial.
Tecken
- Hoppande gång
- Hälta
- Varus (hjulbent) vid medial
- Låg hållning, tår inåt
- Sällan: akut icke-belastning
Hjulbenthet är vanligt vid medial luxation.
Diagnostik
Palpation och grad I–IV. Röntgen knä och höft: fåra, axel, artros, samtidiga sjukdomar.
Röntgen bedömer benaxel och höft.
Behandling
Konservativt I / mild II: vikt, låg belastning, ledstöd. Kirurgi symtomatisk II–IV: trochleoplastik, TTT, mjukdelar; osteotomier vid IV.
Prognos
I–III efter kirurgi ofta bra/utmärkt. IV reserverad till dålig; artros möjlig.
Prevention
Avla inte drabbade djur. Idealvikt från ung ålder.
När kontakta veterinär
Tid vid hoppande gång eller hjulbenthet. Akut vid plötslig icke-belastning, svår smärta eller oförmåga att resa sig.
