Qu'est-ce que c'est ?
La rotule glisse dans la trochlée fémorale. Luxation médiale (fréquente) ou latérale. Grades I–IV. Boiterie mécanique et lésions cartilagineuses.
Causes et facteurs de risque
Surtout congénitale (gorge peu profonde, malalignement); rarement traumatique. Médiale: petites races/toys; latérale: grandes races, souvent avec dysplasie de hanche. Chat moins fréquent, surtout médiale.
Signes à surveiller
- Démarche sautillante
- Boiterie
- Varus (membres arqués) si médiale
- Posture basse, orteils en dedans
- Rare: non-appui aigu
L'aspect arqué est fréquent en luxation médiale.
Comment les vétérinaires diagnostiquent
Palpation et grade I–IV. Radiographies genou et hanche: profondeur de gorge, axe, arthrose, affections associées.
Les radiographies évaluent l'alignement osseux et la hanche.
Options de traitement
Conservateur I / II léger: poids, exercice doux, soutien articulaire. Chirurgie II–IV symptomatique: trochléoplastie, transposition de tubérosité tibiale, tissus mous; ostéotomies si IV sévère.
Pronostic
I–III après chirurgie souvent bon/excellent. IV réservé à mauvais; arthrose possible.
Prévention
Ne pas faire reproduire les animaux atteints. Poids idéal dès le jeune âge.
Quand appeler le vétérinaire
Consultation si sauts ou membres arqués. Urgent si non-appui soudain, douleur intense ou impossibilité de se lever.
