Orsaker och riskfaktorer
Neoplasi; predisposition schäfer, labrador, golden, boxer, cocker, siames. Hos illrar frekvent.
Tecken
- Svaghet och kramper (kardinala)
- Kollaps, ataxi, letargi
- Beteendeförändring, darrningar, polyfagi
Svaghet och letargi är tidiga tecken.
Diagnostik
Seruminsulin vid dokumenterad hypoglykemi; lågt fruktosamin; CT/ultraljud; kirurgisk exploration.
Bilddiagnostik hjälper hitta tumören.
Behandling
Akut: dextros och glukokortikoider. Kirurgi föredras. Medicinskt: diazoxid, oktreotid, streptozocin, täta måltider.
Prognos
Bot sällsynt; med operation och medicin ofta längre överlevnad.
Prevention
Ingen primärprevention; glukos hos riskseniorer.
När ringa veterinär
Kramper, kollaps, extrem svaghet: akut. Sirap på tandköttet endast vid medvetande.
