Nguyên nhân và yếu tố nguy cơ
Tân sinh; khuynh hướng German Shepherd, Labrador, Golden, Boxer, Cocker, Siamese. Ở chồnferret phổ biến.
Dấu hiệu
- Yếu và co giật (chính)
- Gục ngã, thất điều, uể oải
- Hành vi lạ, run, ăn nhiều
Yếu và uể oải là dấu hiệu sớm.
Chẩn đoán
Insulin huyết thanh khi đã ghi nhận hạ đường huyết; fructosamine thấp; CT/siêu âm; thăm dò phẫu thuật.
Hình ảnh giúp định vị khối u.
Điều trị
Cấp cứu: dextrose và corticosteroid. Ưu tiên phẫu thuật. Nội khoa: diazoxide, octreotide, streptozocin, cho ăn thường xuyên.
Tiên lượng
Thận trọng về khỏi hẳn; kết hợp mổ và thuốc có thể kéo dài sống sót.
Phòng ngừa
Không phòng ngừa nguyên phát; kiểm tra glucose ở thú già nguy cơ.
Khi nào gọi thú y
Co giật, gục ngã, yếu nặng: cấp cứu. Bôi siro lên nướu chỉ khi còn tỉnh.
