Årsager og risikofaktorer

Aerosol og kropsvæsker.

"CDV is shed in respiratory secretions for up to 90 days after infection. Initial replication of CDV is in lymphoid tissue, and viral destruction of lymphocytes results in lymphopenia and pyrexia."

Uvaccinerede hvalpe 6-12 uger højeste risiko; ildere næsten 100% dødeligt. Ingen raceprædisposition.

  • Myoklonus (kardinal)
  • Almindelige: feber, depression, mukopurulent næseflåd, hoste, opkast/diarré, pustler, hyperkeratose (hard pad), kramper, ataksi
  • Lejlighedsvis: uveitis, optikusneuritis, KCS, emaljehypoplasi

Diagnostik

CBC (lymfopeni), thoraxrøntgen, konjunktivalcytologi, RT-PCR (guldstandard), IHC, evt. CSF.

Behandling

Kun støttende: IV-væske, antibiotika mod sekundærinfektion, respirationsstøtte, antiemetika, antikonvulsiva. Glucocorticoids selektivt. Streng isolation.

Prognose

Ofte dårlig, især ved CNS-tegn.

Forebyggelse

Core-vaccine hvalpe + boostere; ilder-specifik vaccine; karantæne; desinfektion.
