Restrictive Cardiomyopathy
Feline restrictive cardiomyopathy
Também conhecido como: RCM, Feline Restrictive Cardiomyopathy, Endomyocardial Fibrosis
Em resumo
Restrictive cardiomyopathy (RCM) is an uncommon but serious feline heart disease characterized by stiffening of the heart muscle. This stiffness prevents the heart from filling properly, leading to congestive heart failure and a high risk of blood clots. Learn the signs, how vets diagnose it, and what to expect.

TL;DR.
Based on this classification scheme, there are four basic types of cardiomyopathy: (1) dilated cardiomyopathy, (2) hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), (3) restrictive cardiomyopathy (RCM), and (4) arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy. All these forms are observed in the cat.
Formas miocárdica e endomiocárdica; nesta última fibrose apical e distorção do VE.
Causas e fatores de risco
Idiopática, provavelmente multifatorial (endomiocardite, estágio final pós-CMH, infiltrados como linfoma).
Restrictive cardiomyopathy (RCM) is associated with extensive endocardial, subendocardial, or myocardial fibrosis of unclear, but probably multifactorial, cause.
Sinais
- Dispneia, taquipneia, respiração bucal (frequentes)
- Inatividade, anorexia, perda de peso, vômitos (frequentes)
- Distensão jugular (frequente)
- Tromboembolia / trombo em sela (frequente e urgente)
- Sopro, galope, arritmia (ocasionais)

O aumento do esforço respiratório alerta para insuficiência cardíaca congestiva.
Diagnóstico
Ecocardiografia (padrão-ouro): átrio esquerdo grande, parede quase normal, enchimento rígido, possível trombo/smoke. Radiografias, ECG.
Tratamento
Sem cura da fibrose. Diuréticos (furosemida), IECA, antiplaquetários (clopidogrel), antiarrítmicos se necessário. Monitorar a frequência respiratória em repouso.
Prognóstico
Reservado a ruim; progressiva.
