Intussusception is a life-threatening veterinary emergency where one segment of the intestine telescopes into another, causing a severe blockage and cutting off blood flow. Prompt surgical intervention is typically required to save the animal's life.

Was ist das?
Intussusceptum im Intussuscipiens. Mechanische Obstruktion; Mesenterium wird mitgezogen und komprimiert. Folge: Stauung, Ischämie, Nekrose, bei Ruptur septische Peritonitis. Notfall der höchsten Dringlichkeit.
Ursachen und Risikofaktoren
Auslöser abnorme Motilität: Parasiten, Parvovirose (Welpen), Fremdkörper, akute Gastroenteritis, Tumoren (älter). Prädisposition u. a. Deutscher Schäferhund, Labradoodle, Golden Retriever; Jungtiere häufiger.
Anzeichen
- Erbrechen
- Bauchschmerz
- Spärlicher blutiger Durchfall / Hämatochezie
- Tastbare wurstförmige Masse
- Anorexie, Depression; selten Anämie
Starker Bauchschmerz und gespannter Bauch sind typisch.
Diagnose
Palpation, Sonografie (Zielscheiben-/Bullaugenmuster), Röntgen (Obstruktionszeichen), ggf. Kontrasteinlauf oder Koloskopie. Explorative Laparotomie diagnostisch und therapeutisch.
Behandlung
Chirurgischer Notfall: Reposition wenn vital, sonst Resektion und Anastomose. Intensive Flüssigkeit, Analgesie, Antibiotika. Endoskopische Entfernung nur in Ausnahmefällen und riskant.
Prognose
Oft gut bei früher OP ohne Peritonitis und ohne Re-Invagination. Bei ausgedehnter Resektion oder Peritonitis vorsichtiger.
Vorbeugung
Entwurmung, Impfung (Parvo/Panleukopenie), langsame Futterwechsel, keine verschluckbaren Fremdkörper.
Wann den Tierarzt rufen
Sofort bei unstillbarem Erbrechen, starkem Bauchschmerz, blutigem spärlichem Stuhl, Kollaps oder verweigertem Futter mit gespanntem Bauch.
