Osteoarthritis, or degenerative joint disease, is a chronic, progressive condition causing joint pain and stiffness in dogs and cats. While it cannot be cured, a combination of weight management, targeted exercise, and veterinary-prescribed medications can significantly improve your pet's comfort and quality of life.

Là gì?
DJD: mất sụn, gai xương, đau. Chó: thường thứ phát sau vấn đề chỉnh hình phát triển. Mèo: chủ yếu theo tuổi.

Loạn sản, trật bánh chè, OCD, đứt chéo; béo phì.
Dấu hiệu cần theo dõi
- Đau (chính; thường im lặng)
- Cứng, khập khiễng, giảm chịu tải (thường)
- Mèo: ít nhảy, do dự cầu thang
Mèo hiếm khi khập khiễng; hành vi đổi.
Cách bác sĩ thú y chẩn đoán
Bệnh sử, dáng đi, X-quang.
X-quang thấy gai xương và khe khớp hẹp.
Phương pháp điều trị
Cân gầy; Grapiprant / NSAID; Omega-3 Fatty Acids; phục hồi chức năng. Acetaminophen chỉ chó (độc với mèo).
Tiên lượng
QoL tốt với kế hoạch suốt đời. Bệnh tiến triển, không đảo ngược.
Phòng ngừa
Giữ gầy từ nhỏ; sàng lọc chỉnh hình sớm.
Khi nào gọi bác sĩ thú y
Khẩn: không chịu lực, đau dữ dội, tác dụng phụ NSAID.
