Hip Dysplasia
Også kjent som: Canine hip dysplasia, Acetabular hip dysplasia, Femoral hip dysplasia
Kort fortalt
Canine hip dysplasia is a common, inherited skeletal condition where the hip joint develops abnormally, causing joint laxity, pain, and progressive arthritis. Early diagnosis through physical exams and radiographs allows for medical or surgical treatments that preserve your dog's mobility and quality of life.

TL;DR. Arvelig hoftelaxitet med artrose; tidlig hjelp bevarer livskvalitet.
Sammenligning frisk vs dysplastisk hofte.
Hva er det?
Coxofemoral dysplasia: ball and socket fit poorly. Joint laxity drives cartilage wear and secondary OA.
Årsaker og risikofaktorer
Primarily hereditary. Rapid growth, calories, excess exercise in growth modulate severity. Higher risk: Rottweiler, German Shepherd Dog, Labrador Retriever.
Tegn å se etter
- Joint laxity (cardinal)
- Slow to rise; pain on hip abduction (common)
- Difficulty jumping; decreased activity (common)
- Base-narrow or bunny-hop gait (occasional)

Smal bakbeinbas er vanlig.
Hvordan veterinærer diagnostiserer
Gait, muscle mass, ROM. Sedated Ortolani/Barlow. Radiographs; PennHIP distraction index.

Røntgen er gullstandard.
Behandling
Young/no OA: pelvic osteotomy if angles fit. Severe OA: total hip replacement. Medical: lean weight, rehab, low-impact exercise, NSAIDs.
Prognose
Generally favorable with lifelong weight control and medical or surgical care.
Forebygging
Screen breeding stock (OFA/PennHIP). Large-breed puppy diet; avoid high impact until growth plates close; keep lean.
Når ringe veterinær
Evaluate stiffness and hard rising. Emergency: cannot stand on hind legs, severe pain, sudden severe lameness.
