Que es?
Masa compacta de pelo en el estomago. El conejo no vomita. Obstruccion pilorica: deshidratacion, shock y muerte.
Causas y factores de riesgo
Poca fibra larga; hipomotilidad; deshidratacion; acicalado excesivo. Pelo largo: mayor riesgo.
Signos
- Anorexia (comun)
- Oligodipsia (comun)
- Heces pequenas, secas o ausentes (comunes)
- Letargo, encorvamiento, abdomen tenso (comunes)
- Hipotermia, deshidratacion, perdida de peso (comunes)
El encorvamiento senala dolor abdominal.
Como lo diagnostican
Palpacion cuidadosa (higado fragil). Radiografias. Confirmacion definitiva a menudo quirurgica.
"Although definitive diagnosis of trichobezoar cannot be made without surgical exploration, a tentative diagnosis can be made based on history, clinical signs, palpation of an abdominal mass in the vicinity of the stomach, and contrast radiography, especially with fluoroscopy."

Tratamiento
Sin obstruccion completa: fluidos, Metoclopramide (nunca con obstruccion completa), analgesia, alimentacion por jeringa.
Obstruccion completa: gastrotomia urgente.
Pronostico
Bueno si se detecta pronto. Reservado con obstruccion completa, hipotermia o shock.
Prevencion
Heno ilimitado (80-90% de la dieta); agua fresca; cepillado en muda; ejercicio.
Cuando llamar
Urgente: no come >12 h; sin heces >12 h; frio/letargico; encorvado, bruxismo, abdomen duro.
