Hvad er det?
Øvre luftvejskompleks. Hovedagens: FHV-1, FCV, også Chlamydophila felis, Bordetella, Mycoplasma. Inflammation i næse, bihuler og konjunktiva.
Årsager og risikofaktorer
Direkte kontakt og fomiter i trængsel. Stress, immunsuppression og manglende vaccination øger sværhedsgrad. Killinger og uvaccinerede mere udsatte.
Tegn at holde øje med
- Almindelige: nysen, næse-/øjenflåd, konjunktivitis, mild letargi, lavgradig feber
- Lejlighedsvis: orale sår (FCV), anoreksi, hoste
- Alvorlige: hornhindesår (FHV), pneumoni, dyspnø
Konjunktivitis er almindelig, især ved herpesvirus.
Hvordan dyrlæger diagnosticerer
Ofte klinisk. PCR fra konjunktival/orofaryngeal swab ved behov. Blodtal og røntgen ved pneumonimistanke.
Konjunktivalswab kan bruges til PCR.
Behandling
Støtte: fugt, rensning af sekret, ernæring, væske. Antiviralt (fx famciclovir) ved svær FHV. Øjenmedicin. Systemiske antibiotika ved bakteriel superinfektion.
Prognose
Fremragende i akut fase (7-14 dage). Mange FHV-bærere med stressrelaterede opblusninger.
Forebyggelse
FVRCP-vaccine; hygiejne; karantæne af nye; mindre stress.
Hvornår ringe til dyrlægen
Akut: anoreksi >24 t, åndenød, smertefuldt/grumset øje, ekstrem svaghed, tyk purulent flåd.
