Ferret adrenal disease is a highly common hormonal disorder in pet ferrets over three years of age. Unlike canine Cushing's disease, it is driven by elevated sex hormones rather than cortisol, causing progressive hair loss, skin issues, and behavioral changes. Là gì?

Nguyên nhân và yếu tố nguy cơ
Triệt sản rất sớm; chu kỳ ánh sáng nhân tạo kéo dài; tuổi trung niên đến già.
Dấu hiệu cần theo dõi
- Chính: rụng lông đối xứng từ đuôi; sưng âm hộ ở cái đã triệt sản
- Thường gặp: ngứa, da mỏng/dầu, mùi động dục, hung hăng/leo lên, tuyến tiền liệt to (đực)
- Thỉnh thoảng: thiếu máu estrogen, teo cơ
Siêu âm bụng là tiêu chuẩn vàng để quan sát thượng thận.
Cách thú y chẩn đoán
Khám + kiểu rụng lông. Siêu âm bụng (tiêu chuẩn vàng). Panel hormone sinh dục thượng thận.
Phương án điều trị
Cắt thượng thận (lý tưởng chữa khỏi). Nội khoa: leuprolide, melatonin; đôi khi mitotane. Cấp cứu tiết niệu ở đực.
Tiên lượng
Rất tốt với phẫu thuật thành công hoặc kiểm soát thuốc lâu dài. Không điều trị: xấu.
Phòng ngừa
Cấy melatonin theo một số phác đồ; chu kỳ sáng-tối tự nhiên; khám thú kỳ lạ định kỳ.
Khi nào gọi thú y
Cấp cứu: đực rặn tiểu/không tiểu được; suy kiệt/niêm mạc nhợt; đau bụng nặng hoặc bỏ ăn hoàn toàn.
