Dermatophytosis, commonly known as ringworm, is a highly contagious fungal skin infection in guinea pigs. While zoonotic and easily spread to humans, it is highly treatable with veterinary-prescribed antifungals and thorough environmental cleaning.

Hva er det?
Overfladisk infeksjon i hud og hårsekker av dermatofytter. Hos marsvin dominerer Trichophyton mentagrophytes. Sporer bryter ned keratin: flassende bare flekker. Zoonose mulig.
Årsaker og risikofaktorer
Direkte kontakt eller fomiter. Risiko øker ved stress, fukt, unge/drektige/syke dyr og hudmikrotraumer.
Tegn å se etter
- Alopeci med flass/skorper (kardinal), ofte i ansiktet
- Knekte hår, rødhet, papler (vanlig)
- Kløe variabel (ofte mild)
- Asymptomatiske bærere (av og til)
Tørt flass og sprø hår er klassisk.
Hvordan veterinærer diagnostiserer
Utelukk midd og bakteriell dermatitt. Woods lampe ofte negativ. Trikogram, soppdyrkning/PCR.
Behandling
Foreskrevne systemiske og/eller topikale antimykotika, isolasjon, aggressiv miljøhygiene, undersøk kontakter.
Prognose
God ved full terapi og hygiene; tilbakefall hvis sporer eller bærere gjenstår.
Forebygging
Karantene, tørt rent miljø, mindre stress, håndhygiene.
Når ringe veterinær
Time ved skorpete hårtap. Haster ved rask spredning, matvegring eller hudlesjoner hos mennesker.
