Urolithiasis is a common condition where mineral stones form in the urinary tract of dogs and cats, causing pain, bloody urine, and potentially life-threatening blockages.

Qu'est-ce que c'est ?

Formation de calculs minéraux (urolithes) dans rein, uretère, vessie ou urètre. Irritent la muqueuse et peuvent obstruer.

Causes et facteurs de risque

Génétique, alimentation, pH urinaire, infection, hydratation. Fréquents: oxalate de calcium, struvite, urate. Struvite souvent liée à bactéries uréase+ chez le chien; CaOx en hausse, non soluble par le régime.

Signes à surveiller

  • Fréquents: strangurie, pollakiurie, hématurie, mictions hors lieu
  • Cardinal si obstruction: pas d'urine, douleur intense, vomissements
  • Selon siège: douleur de flanc si haut appareil

Diagnostic

Palpation (vessie tendue si obstruction), analyse d'urine, radio/écho, culture. Analyse du calcul = référence pour prévention.

Traitement

Urgence: sonde/stabilisation si obstruction. Dissolution (régime struvite) si indiqué; sinon extraction (chirurgie, laser, hydropulsion). Traiter l'infection. CaOx et beaucoup d'urates: extraction + prévention.

Pronostic

Calculs vésicaux après extraction souvent bons; récidive sans gestion fréquente. Obstruction et atteinte rénale assombrissent le pronostic.

Prévention

Plus d'eau, aliment selon type, traiter infections, contrôles.

Quand appeler le vétérinaire

Changement de miction, sang: RDV. Urgence: pas d'urine, apathie extrême, vomissements, vessie dure.

Races particulières

Dalmatian et autres: risque d'urate (métabolisme des purines); régime et suivi spécifiques.
