How Dental Analysis Works
Peqaboo's AI dental analysis uses advanced image recognition to assess your pet's oral health from photos. It can detect signs of tartar buildup, gingivitis, broken teeth, discoloration, and other dental issues.
Taking Good Dental Photos
The quality of the analysis depends on photo quality. Here's how to get the best results:
- Good lighting: Use natural light or a bright room. Avoid shadows on the teeth.
- Open mouth: Gently lift your pet's lip to expose the teeth and gums. You don't need to open the mouth wide — just the side teeth are very informative.
- Multiple angles: Take photos of the front, left side, and right side for a complete assessment.
- Stay steady: Hold the camera still and close enough to see individual teeth clearly.
Tip: If your pet won't cooperate, try when they're relaxed or sleepy. Treats can help too — just make sure they've swallowed before taking the photo!
Understanding Your Report
The AI report includes:
- Overall Score — A general dental health rating.
- Tartar Assessment — Level of tartar buildup and affected areas.
- Gum Health — Signs of gingivitis, redness, or swelling.
- Tooth Condition — Any visible chips, cracks, or missing teeth.
- Recommendations — Suggested next steps based on findings.
When to See a Vet
The AI analysis is a screening tool, not a diagnosis. Visit your vet if:
- The report indicates moderate to severe tartar or gum disease
- Your pet has bad breath, drooling, or difficulty eating
- You notice any broken or loose teeth
- Gums appear dark red, purple, or are bleeding
Track Changes Over Time
Run dental analyses regularly (monthly is ideal) to track your pet's oral health. Peqaboo saves all past reports so you can compare and spot trends.
