Use CFIA’s live decision tool for the exact movement. “Personal pet” means the dog will live with the importing owner and is not intended for transfer, breeding, sale, show, research or special training. Cats, assistance dogs and other purposes have their own answers.

Adult personal pet rabies evidence
For Hong Kong, the straightforward adult route uses a currently valid rabies vaccination certificate issued and signed by a licensed veterinarian in English or French, clearly identifying the animal and vaccine. The federal reference also recognises a qualifying RNATT, but Peqaboo does not silently substitute it without the exact report and timing.

Cats under 3 months and dogs under 3 months have different rabies treatment in the federal reference. A personal dog under 8 months that is not accompanied by the owner has additional health-certificate, examination and 72-hour movement controls. Do not infer these branches from an approximate birth month.

Check the receiving province and carrier for any additional health certificate, rabies, crate, weather or breed control. Hong Kong has no general pet export permit, but obtain AFCD official certification when the destination, transit authority or carrier requires it.
