Wat is het?

Oorzaken en risicofactoren
Inname van fecale oöcysten; spenen, stress, slechte hygiëne, overbevolking.
Signalen
- Diarree (cardinaal), lusteloosheid, gewichtsverlies, anorexie, dehydratie
- Buikopzetting, icterus (soms; hepatisch)
Gebogen houding en lusteloosheid wijzen op buikpijn.
Diagnostiek
Fecesflotatie (gouden standaard); soms histopathologie lever/darm.
Fecesflotatie toont oöcysten.
Behandeling
Ponazuril of Toltrazuril of Sulfadimethoxine; vocht, voeding, pijnstilling.
Prognose
Voorzichtig bij zwaar zieke jongen; goed bij vroege diagnose.
Preventie
Dagelijks schoonmaken, quarantaine nieuwkomers, minder stress, verhoogde voerbakken.

Urgent: ernstige diarree, anorexie >12 u, extreme lusteloosheid, gespannen buik, icterus.
